On October 4, 2016, CMS published the first major changes to the Requirements of Participation (“RoPs”) for nursing facilities in 25 years. The revisions require nursing facilities to abide by new requirements, update existing policies, update procedures and agreements, implement new programs, and provide additional information to residents.
ROLF created a Phase 1 Compliance Packet to assist providers with requirements that went into effect on November 28, 2016. More information HERE.
Surveyors will begin surveying on “Phase 2” changes to the RoPs starting November 28, 2017.
The Phase 2 compliance packet will include guidance for updating existing material and sample documents, such as a Denture Policy, Facility Assessment Outline, QAPI Policy, Smoking Policy, Crime Reporting Policy, Transfer Form & Notice, and Discharge Summary Form.
Preorders of the Phase 2 compliance packet will begin in late August.
